Our stay at La casa de los Abuelos was simply wonderful. We really did feel as if we were staying at our grandfather's place (La Casa de los Abuelos means, "The Grandparent's House" in Spanish). The owners are very friendly and helpful, they know the area very well and can tell you where to buy textiles, how to reach surrounding villages, where to do your laundry, etc. The room is spotless and the housekeeping staff are also friendly and cheerful... The house is a very short and pleasant walk away from the Zocalo, 2 minutes away from Santo Domingo Church, and very close to the bus station. We highly recommend this charming B&B.

Stayed for a week with my wife in one of the apartments at Casa de los Abuelos. We had a great time at the apartments and in Oaxaca. Location was great, just around the corner from Santa Domingo, a short walk to Llano Park or the Zocalo. All amenities are also close by. The apartments are clean and well-maintained, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. Internet was also good. There is also a courtyard where you can relax. Above all, we really liked the homey atmosphere.... We had a really good time and plan to return again when we'll stay once more at Casa de los Abuelos

We stayed at La Casa de los Abuelos during December 2009 and the beginning of January 2010. It is a wonderful place. Our apartment had a small but sufficient kitchen (supplied with great coffee!) and an upstairs sleeping room and bathroom. The location is fantastic: only a short walk from Santo Domingo and an easy walk down pedestrianised streets to the zocalo. Luis and Ita were absolutely brilliant about helping us contact the airport a few times to try to locate my missing luggage (which showed up 4 days later than I did). They could not have been more friendly and helpful. I'm hoping to return to Oaxaca and stay at La Casa de los Abuelos again.

We were absolutely charmed by La Casa de los Abuelos. Rosa and Ita are such wonderfully hospitable hosts. And we loved the richly authentic, historic and beautifully decorated apartments and courtyards. The location can hardly be beat: right around the corner from the Santo Domingo cathedral; 10 minute walk to the Zocalo; and easy walking distance from everything the Oaxaca Centro has to offer. And the price was downright cheap. We savored every moment of our week stay in the "Cantera" (I believe) unit. Rosa lives at the Casa but speaks no English. Ita is there almost every day (long business hours) and speaks English quite well. They both have hearts of gold and made us feel like family. They were very attentive and helpful.
