TESTIMONIES
Everything You Need
We were only able to stay at Casa de los Abuelos for 3 nights, but would definitely return for a longer visit. Our 2 story unit at the back was quiet, spotless, and well-equipped. Loved the decoration and homey feeling of our apartment. We only prepared breakfasts there, because there wasn't time to invest in serious cooking. But had we wanted to, the kitchen had everything we would have needed, along with pretty dishes to eat on. I appreciated the unending supply of potable water right in the kitchen. Our hosts were very warm and accommodating and the location was perfect (close to the Oaxaca Lending Library which we recommend to English speakers who run out of books!) Can't think of any negatives to report, and we didn't even know there was a new rooftop deck - something to look forward to.

What a friendly place!
This place has a number of suites opening on to a small courtyard. The suites provide sleeping on a second floor above a ground level where there is a kitchen, a stable and some seating and which opens out to the court. The hosts are exceedingly friendly and helpful. There is, as well a pleasant, friendly dynamic established amongst the guests because of the shared courtyard and because many guests come to stay here repeatedly. The Casa is positioned in the historic core next to Santo Domingo.

Wonderful, friendly, excellent!!
This is our second year renting an apartment here, and we could not be happier. All seven apartments have the same layout, a kitchen/living/dining area on the first floor, and bedroom/bath on the second. There's also a nice patio to share with the other guests, as well as a beautiful roof deck with view of the surrounding city and mountains, as well as many flowering plants tended lovingly by the owners. Location is amazing-- a half a block from the Jardin Ethnbotanico, and two blocks from Santo Domingo. Literally every major attraction of Oaxaca is walking distance. The rooms are well furnished, and daily maid service by the lovely Petra keeps beds made, linens fresh, and living areas spotless. The best aspect of this place, by far, is the always friendly ownership. Luis, Rosa and Ita are always around to help, to give information, to share jokes and laughs. They are a small example of Mexican generosity and hospitality. Their many small favors and cheerful attitude are unforgettable.

Dead center no pun attended
Was not here for... The Day of the Dead, but I can only imagine stepping out the front gate to all the excitement! This quaint family run (for generations) operation once the home for the Spanish Padres next door Santo Domingo Church...is the epicenter of activity. The best food, shopping, people watching. To find a complete two story apartment with full kitchen for the price I paid...amazing! Add an inner courtyard full of character and even a rooftop terrace...over the top cool!
